About Prognostyx

Care should see trouble coming.

We are a small team of clinicians and engineers building the layer that connects a patient, the people who care for them, and the early signs that something is changing.

What we believe

Three things we hold to.

  1. 01

    The record is the patient's.

People move between clinics, hospitals and insurers. Their record should move with them, and they should decide who sees it.

  2. 02

    Attention is the scarce thing.

Clinicians do not need more data. They need to be shown the few things that need them now, and trusted to choose what reaches them.

  3. 03

    Prediction serves judgment.

Prognostyx raises a hand; a clinician decides. We will not ship something that hides how sure it is or pretends to replace the person responsible.

The people

Where medicine meets reliability engineering.

Gabriel Herscu, MD

Clinical lead

LinkedIn ↗

Gabriel is a board-certified vascular and general surgeon who has spent his career on the conditions Nexyx starts with. He is Chief of Vascular Surgery at Aria Vascular and at San Joaquin General Hospital, where he also directs the surgical residency program.

He founded the hospital's multidisciplinary limb salvage program and trained as an engineer before medicine, which is where the idea came from: the signs that a patient is heading for trouble are usually there, spread across people and systems that never see each other.

  • Chief of Vascular Surgery, Aria Vascular and San Joaquin General Hospital
  • Program Director, SJGH Surgical Residency
  • MD, UC Irvine · Vascular fellowship, USC and LA County
  • Practicing in Northern California since 2012

Elmer Tolentino

Sr. Distinguished Engineer, HPE

LinkedIn ↗

Elmer has spent three decades as a reliability engineer, building the discipline of knowing a system is about to fail before it does. He was a principal reliability engineer at Juniper Networks for more than twenty years and is now a Senior Distinguished Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

For the last ten years he has applied the same thinking to medicine, working in medical AI and machine-learning data science. Prognostyx is that idea carried over: treat a patient's care like a system worth monitoring, and catch the failure early.

  • 30 years in reliability engineering
  • Principal Reliability Engineer, Juniper Networks, 2001 to 2025
  • Medical AI and ML data science since 2015
  • University of California, Berkeley

Aleks Movsesyan

Engineering leader

LinkedIn ↗

Aleks leads engineering at Prognostyx, turning the clinical idea and the prediction engine into software that patients and care teams can rely on. He has spent his career building and running product engineering teams, most recently as VP of Engineering at The Mind Company and, before that, Head of Engineering at SendOwl.

He also advises and invests in early-stage startups, and brings that habit to Prognostyx: ship something real, put it in front of the people who will use it, and let them shape what comes next.

  • VP of Engineering, The Mind Company
  • Head of Engineering, SendOwl, 2023 to 2025
  • Startup advisor and angel investor
  • California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo
